Execution Buffer

Execution Buffers are used in real-time to monitor the current inventory situation and drive execution decisions. These buffers help decide how urgent it is to receive stock based on current levels. They have three zones: green, yellow and red, indicating different levels of priority. The deeper inventory penetrates into the Execution Buffer's Red Zone, the more urgent the response needs to be. © Copyright 2025 Demand Driven Institute. Used with permission.

How do they relate to Planning buffers?

Execution Buffers also have three zones—Red, Yellow, and Green—like búferes de planificación, but with different sizing. In execution, the Yellow Zone from planning becomes Green, as on-hand inventory is expected to remain within this range. The Red Zone from planning is divided into two distinct levels:

  • Yellow (Alert Level) – A warning that stock is running low.
  • Red (Critical Level) – A severe shortage requiring immediate action.

Además, los búferes de ejecución incluyen una zona roja oscura, que indica una posición negativa disponible, es decir, una rotura de inventario en la que existe demanda pero no hay existencias disponibles.

ForgeFlow Cloud ERP intelligently utilizes execution buffers and on-hand status to trigger alerts and prioritize management. In cases of short-stocked items, the system automatically ranks buffers, helping inventory managers focus on components at the highest risk of stockouts first.
